Xiaomi 12 Series Specifications
Yes, Xiaomi 12 series is announced with pricings bellow $1000. After the initial Xiaomi 12 release date in China, it is finally ready to be shared with the rest of the world.
Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X are one of the best smartphone devices out there in their respective categories. They are all equipped with some high end tech for video recording, entertainment system, improved Artificial Intelligence, a powerful CPU and an amazing user experience overall.
We’ve already touched on the subject after the Xiaomi 12 series launch date was leaked, but it was a short article on what could we expect. But the highly anticipated Xiaomi 12 is finally here and there is no point in speculating anymore.
Let’s dive deep into what this brand new Xiaomi 12 Series can offer for under $1000.
Xiaomi 12 Series: Chipset
Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 host the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset designed and manufactured by Qualcomm. On the other hand Xiaomi 12X is powered by Snapdragon 870 5G. All of the devices from the Xiaomi 12 series are dispatched with a Universal Flash Storage (UFC) 3.1.
The 8 Gen 1 processor is built with Samsung’s 4nm process and has very powerful performance. All in all, a top notch technology from the world’s most advanced mobile platform. Now, let’s move on to the storage.
Storage
Although a decent storage capacity is a must nowadays, especially on a flagship smartphones like these, the speed is also very important. Xiaomi 12 Series smartphones have a host of apps and services that constantly require access to your storage, so speed is crucial.
That is why Xiaomi chose to use the latest UFS 3.1 storage system. It is one of the latest options, and one of the fastest. When put in a flagship phone you can expect best results. This is because UFS 3.1 UFS 3.1 introduces Write Booster, Deep Sleep, Performance Throttling Notification and Host Performance Booster for faster, more power efficient and cheaper UFS solutions.
Built it inside the Xiaomi 12 series flagship phones, and you’ve got yourself a significant elevated performance. This brand new Universal Flash Storage offers faster read and write speeds. And since it increases the loading speeds and transfer of data it helps improve the phone’s performance.
RAM
On top of that, these models are integrated with a LPDDR5 RAM with speeds of up to 6.400 Mbps. Although this RAM is faster than LPDDR4x, it is also more power-efficient. This bonus feature comes thanks to the use of Dynamic Voltage Scaling (DVS) which adjust the voltage and in turn the memory frequency as per load.
Because LPDDR5 RAM consumes a lot less power, the battery can last longer. And the multi-bank group mode feature it offers higher data bandwidth. As a result, it offers improved memory performance for the users. It is a technology that every flagship phone should come with.
Cooling System
With a smartphone like this, a top cooling system is indeed required. After the initial release, some people in China disassembled the Xiaomi MI 12 Pro. They were interested to see how the cooling system performs.
The Snapdragon Gen1 needs a lot of power consumption. So Xiaomi 12 Pro uses heat dissipation film, copper foil, silicone grease and 2900mm2 super large VC soaking plate. This heat dissipation system is one of a kind. It also helps bring down the power consumption at a normal level.
This is exactly what you would expect to find in a flagship phone.

The Display
Let’s talk about the displays. All three devices are covered with AMOLED Dot display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. They do support TrueColor and HDR10 +.
The new and improved AMOLED Dot display device uses quantum dots, semiconductor nanocrystals which can produce pure monochromatic red, green, and blue light. If you compare this type of display to others the benefits are quite obvious. First, it consumes a lot less power. It provides the user with more vivid picture quality and it renders faster motion response.
Xiaomi 12 Pro has a 6.73 inch WQHD+ display and uses a AdaptiveSinc Pro tech that allows a screen refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz. Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X have 6.28 inch Full HD+ display. These two models also use AdaptiveSinc with a screen refresh rate of 120Hz.
Camera Setup
We can confidently state that Xiaomi 12 Pro is the proud owner of the best camera setup. A setup, that a flagship smartphone deserves to have. It hosts three 50 MP cameras. As if that wasn’t enough, it is the first smartphone to use the IMX707 sensor. This brand new state of the art tech comes from Sony and it offers better low-light photography.
Although very similar to its predecessor IMX766 which is hosted in the vanilla Xiaomi 12, the performance will be boosted by Xiaomi’s new Image Brain. The software promises very fast image processing and offers better shots of fast moving objects. The camera itself will have periscope telephoto and ultra-wide-angle lens. It will support OIS Optical Image Stabilization technology and will come with 150x zoom.
We already mentioned that this sensor includes 50 MP resolution. It also has 1.22μm pixel size, 2.44um fusion large pixels, and 1/1.28-inch sensor size. The light intake is increased by 49% so the light sensitivity is also improved. On top of that sits the Xiaomi’s Night Algorithm 2.0. It is a software solution that helps to achieve a full focal length super night scene.
Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X also have a ultra wide angle camera with 13 MP resolution. The third option is a 5 MP telephoto camera. They both have 50MP resolution on their main sensor.
All three devices have One Click AI Cinema preinstalled. Because of the processing power these smartphones have, they are now capable of video editing as well. The powerful software and hardware combination on the Xiaomi 12 series, allows user to edit videos with the “Parallel World”, “Freeze Frame Video” and “Magic Zoom” modes.
Operating System
Xiaomi 12 series comes with MIUI 13 Operating System. This new version brings a lot of benefits to these already powerful smartphones. Such as faster storage of data, increased efficiency of the background processes, better battery utilization and so much more.
MIUI 13 improves the user experience by implementing Liquid Storage, Focused Memory and Smart Balance features.
In case you were wondering, Liquid Storage is a brand new function developed for MIUI 13. It simply manages how files are stored on devices. Xiaomi says that due to rewriting data on smartphones, the read and write speeds reduce by up to 50 percent after 36 months, and this affects the app opening time.
Smart Balance is another module that resides inside MIUI 13. It takes care of the battery. It aims to extend the battery life. It does that by intelligently distributing battery resources between performance and power consumption.
It seems like the latest version of MIUI 13 is focus on the system fluency and stability. And Xiaomi 12 series is the first one to get it out of the box. In comparison to MIUI 12 the latest version features boost in system fluency between 15% and 52%. All in all, It allows the installed applications to open quicker, and the frame drop rate will be reduced by almost 90%. As well as faster read and write times.
The Battery
Xiaomi 12 Pro uses HyperCharge a 120W battery charging technology. This means that a battery with a 4,600 mAh capacity can be charged to its full capacity in only 18 minutes. All of this is possible because of the Boost feature. On the other hand Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X have a 4,500 mAh battery capacity. They do allow fast charging of 67W.
Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 also support wireless charging with up to 50W. That includes the option for revers charging of 10W. And both models have the tech to support it.
As if that wasn’t enough, the users of Xiaomi 12 series will get three months free subscription to YouTube Premium. We talked about this briefly in the previous post. YouTube Premium allows users to watch video content without ads and even offline (only if this feature is available in your country).
