In less than 24 hours, Xiaomi has rolled out a new MIUI 12 update to the global Redmi Note 8 users, pulled it back, and is currently pushing a new stable MIUI 11 update. That’s surprising really, but Xiaomi, when it comes to updates, is full of surprises and won’t stop surprising us. However, it seems the new MIUI 12 update that started rolling out yesterday didn’t make it to a handful of phones, especially those on V11.0.11.0. It was because of that particular version that the first rollout was pulled, and it seems the recent update that arrived yesterday couldn’t fix the problem, resulting in a new stable MIUI 11 update for the global Redmi Note 8 users.
The new stable MIUI 11 update that’s currently hitting the global Redmi Note 8 users has a version number, V11.0.12.0 PCOMIXM, and it’s based on Android Pie. It’s basically an upgrade from the buggy v11.0.11.0, and hopefully, that will see everyone receive the MIUI 12 update, eventually. Meanwhile, as per the changelog of the new update, it has bumped the security patch level to November 2020, as well as improved system security and stability.
As to whether you should download the update, we can’t say for now. We are currently keeping a close eye on the development and will update this space once we get more information. Hopefully, Xiaomi will explain why it had to roll out a new stable MIUI 11 update for the global Redmi Note 8 users barely 24 hours after a new MIUI 12 update was released. Nevertheless, if you’re still on V11.0.11.0, it makes sense to download the update as you have nothing to lose.
