MIUI 13 Survey
In April 2020, with MIUI 12 barely here, it was rather amusing that Xiaomi was conducting a survey to improve MIUI 13 experience.
“Dear rice noodles in the community: Thank you for your support and love for MIUI! Update and perfect, never stop! Invites you to participate in MIUI 13 functional design research”
This only shows how the Xiaomi software development team is dedicated to providing new updates. It is probably the only non-Google Android smartphone vendor that continues to overhaul the software of its devices.

Improvements in UI Interface
Xiaomi already improve the user interface in the previous version. What we know right now is that the UI will be more stable, faster, smoother and with more functionality. In short, Xiaomi is working hard to improve the overall user interface. You can also expect new live backgrounds and themes. This comes as a result of the well-received Mars theme in MIUI 12. It allows the user to make use of moving pictures of the red planet as background. So maybe a new astronomical body could be an option? Or maybe even a different design entirely.
Always on display (AOD) feature allows the user to check the time, date, and notifications without even opening the smartphone lock or turning on the screen. Although the previous version already contains this feature, we can expect some more enhancements in the upcoming MIUI 13 updates.
MIUI 13 will allow users to expand RAM with Virtual Memory Feature
There is one specific feature in MIUI 13 that we are all very excited about. And that is RAM increase. But we are not talking about a physical RAM increase. That is pretty much out of the question. But Xiaomi did something very interesting in this area. MIUI 13 will use internal memory and convert it into a virtual memory for using it as additional RAM. And this feature is called Memory Expansion.
Every computer has this functionality where the OS will allow a certain amount of memory to be allocated as virtual memory. Well, this basically is the same principle. However, this feature introduced in MIUI 13 is limited to 1GB only. Hopefully, this feature will not be limited to high-end Xiaomi smartphones. After all there isn’t much sense in having virtual RAM in a smartphone with 9GB or 12GB of RAM.
Scheduling option for Airplane mode
One of the latest features to get into MIUI 13 update is to allow users to schedule the Airplane mode ON or OFF. But besides this addition, there will be some other scheduling options Xiaomi is going to add in MIUI updates.
Super Wallpapers
Xiaomi is brining in another Super Wallpaper tool integrated in MIUI 13. It will provide users with the option to download their own Super Wallpapers. Xiaomi really did a great job introducing this feature in MIUI 12, but this feature goes a step further. Now you will be able to create Super Wallpapers as well.
Charging and Battery Improvements
People who have been using MIUI 12 are already familiar with battery performance and heating issues. Because of that Xiaomi is introducing a fix for this problem, but it will also update its battery optimization techniques. As a result, this will improve the battery performance of your smartphone.
New Gestures
MIUI 13 comes with new gestures which will improve the overall user experience. The latest MIUI 13 updates will be released with a couple of new functionalities in this area. Overall, it will add more power to smartphones for handling daily tasks and notifications with new app compatibility.
