MIUI 12 Features
New Animations
All animations of the MIUI interface have been completely renewed. MIUI 12 supports Android 10’s quick change app gestures. I think some animations are really annoying.
Super Wallpaper
Super wallpapers changing on AOD, lock screen and home screen. There are 2 themes as world and mars. More options can be added with future updates. I can say that it is my favorite feature.
Control Panel
MIUI 12 has an iOS-style control panel instead of a notification window. You can access the notification panel when you pull from the left side and the control panel when you pull from the right side.
If you don’t like this style, don’t worry. There is a setting for you to return to the old style. Unfortunately it doesn’t support functional Android notifications in 2 interfaces.
Floating Windows (Apps)
This may be the biggest feature of MIUI 12. You can open applications on the screen small and fix them to the corners. In fact, similar features are available on OneUI and Android 10/11. MIUI developers have developed the floating bubble app that came with Android 10 a bit more.
Pull down the application suspension notification and instantly transform into a quick small window. Drag a small window to the side to transform into a small window. Know everything, chat for a day without delay.
Icons
There is absolutely no revolutionary change in icons. Only a few icons have been optimized. There is no change in the “Limitless” theme.
Weather App
The weather app interface is now simpler. Background graphics have been replaced with a much more realistic style.
Security App
The security app animations and some graphics have been renewed. Also dark mode is more compatible.
Battery & Performance
Battery and performance interface has been renewed again. It has a simple design that fits the MIUI 12 theme. There is no new function.
Clock App
The interface of the clock app has been simplified. Small features have been added to options such as the world clock. For example, if it is 06.00 in New York, what time is it here?
With the bed time feature, you can determine what time you will sleep and wake up. An automatic alarm sounds every day on your wake-up time. You can set the days of your sleep time. However, there is no distinction such as weekdays and weekend hours.
Settings
The Settings app is optimized for one handed use. Also, the old areas have been replaced with the new interface. You can see the some changes in the photos.
AI Call
Xiaomi adds an AI Search feature specifically designed for hearing-impaired users to MIUI 12. It can show the incoming speech in writing and speak what you wrote. Unfortunately, this feature is for Chinese users only. He cannot speak English and other languages. It is not known whether other languages will be added.
The new MIUI version may have great features, a few things are missing for Global users. Notifications are very dysfunctional. With Android 9 and 10, notifications have become very functional. With MIUI 12, basic functions like Quick Reply still don’t work correctly. Also, a huge overflow occurs because the options interface within the app is designed with Chinese users in mind. Hopefully these issues will be fixed until the Stable version.
