MediaTek has announced the new 5G modem Helio M80, which it says has a theoretical download speed of 7.67 Gbps. The first smartphones with Helio M80 modem are expected to be announced later in the year.
MediaTek’s new 5G modem, Helio M80, announced on Monday (yesterday), became the company’s first modem to support mmWave bands. MediaTek Helio M80’s competitor in the industry will directly be the Qualcomm X60 5G modem.
According to MediaTek’s statements, the Helio M80 offers 5G as well as dual 5G SIM, dual 5G NSA and SA and VoNR support. MediaTek states that the Helio M80 will be delivered to customers in late 2021. Therefore, we can say that we will not be able to meet this modem anytime soon.Source
